چکیده
Abstract In order to achieve worldwide food security, there is a focus on sustainable intensification of crop production. This requires irrigation water use for irrigated croplands, as withdrawals are already resulting in groundwater exploitation and unmet ecosystem requirements. Our study aims quantify attainable wheat, maize, rice soybean production currently cropland under use. Attainable accounts increases nutrient application, while limiting renewable availability without compromising river was quantified using newly developed two-way coupled hydrological model model. framework could comprehensively simulate biophysical processes related growth limitations. results indicate nitrogen uptake should increase by 20%, gap closure. However, decrease more than third ensure Under these constraints, total (all crops) 5% estimated, compared achievable Moreover, the extensively croplands northeastern China, Pakistan northwestern India would be reduced up third. On other hand, may possible regions such southern America, eastern Europe central Africa. only small fraction crops irrigated. imply that at odds with management, further locally-oriented research needed assess suitable management options solutions.

There are new technologies such as geographic information systems (GIS) that can be effective in the optimization of irrigation water. Therefore, utilizing these resources in a desirable, effective and efficient manner to ensure sustainable development is one of the most important issues in the today's world. The aim of this study was to determine and evaluate the potential water use efficiency...
متن کاملMalaria and Irrigated Crops, Accra, Ghana
We investigated the prevalence of malaria and associated risk factors in children living in urban Ghana. Malaria prevalence was associated with low hemoglobin concentration, low socioeconomic status, and higher age. Our findings indicate that African urban poor are seriously affected by malaria and that irrigated agriculture may increase this risk.

California's dairies are the largest confined animal industry in the state. A major portion of these dairies, which have an average herd size of nearly 1000 animal units, are located in low-relief valleys and basins. Large amounts of liquid manure are generated and stored in these dairies. In the semi-arid climate, liquid manure is frequently applied via flood or furrow irrigation to forage cro...
